"I ordered your Regency pattern last Spring to make my daughter's Prom dress and sent an appeal for help in making a split overskirt. Well, it's taken me MONTHS to send pictures, but the dress itself only took a few days! I've only been sewing for a little over a year, and even for me, the pattern was so easy - I kept waiting for the hard part. With antique-looking jewelry and an elaborate hairstyle (she studied photos from "Pride and Prejudice" for inspiration and did her hair herself), she looked amazing. She was sooooo happy the next day - said she was the only girl there who wasn't wearing a typical Prom dress, and EVERYONE came up to her and said she looked incredible. Oh, and when she posted the pictures online, one of her friends said I was her idol! Yeay! Anyway, thanks for the fabulous pattern, and I would recommend it to anyone!" ~ Nancy H.
"I have just completed my gown with your pattern (with exception of handsewing on the buttons) I wish to tell you how pleased I am with the result. I normally draft up patterns from a book (such as Patterns of Fashion or Corsets & Crinolines). or combine pattern pieces for a custom pattern. I know you must of heard this a thousand and one times, but the pattern went together with incredible ease, I had not a single headache, and I am more than proud to don the final result. The next time I am asked about regency clothing, I will with zero hesitation recommend your pattern. I plan to use it again and again, and to sum it up: I just wanted to say thank you." ~ Victoria A.
I am very excited to tell everyone about your wonderful Regency Gown pattern! I can not recommend it enough. I have after many years in reenacting not a single dress that fits everywhere perfectly; usually the shoulders or the back gave me some difficulties, but this is wonderful. The instructions and illustrations are great, and the whole thing goes together so nicely. I am heading off to make my second one. ~ Suzanne in Ohio
Wow! the regency dress pattern was everything everyone had said about it! It went together beautifully, with little aggravation (even though I am not the greatest seamstress in the world) and the fit was wonderful--especially the supplemental DD bodice. My friend loves her dress! Anyway, just wanted to say how pleased I am with the pattern. Thanks again for designing a great dress pattern! ~ Sue A.

Here is a pattern with something for everyone! I took some designs I'd played around with years ago and turned them into a "mega pattern." All of the pieces are totally correct for the time period and can be mixed and matched to create an entire wardrobe of gowns! You'll be able to create day gowns, half-robes, visiting gowns, and evening gowns with ease. Best of all, this pattern is ideal for expectant and nursing mothers, since the drawstring gown accommodates a tummy, and both gowns are nursing-friendly! More photos are below to give you an idea of how you can use this pattern. Important: The gowns in this pattern were designed to be worn over period underpinnings and will not fit correctly over modern undergarments. Please make sure you have your proper underpinnings before you use this pattern!
This is the drawstring dress with short puffed sleeves.
This crossover gown was made of dupioni silk and features the pleated front and darted sleeve. This gown also works for day wear when it is made up in cotton or linen and can also be cut to hip-length to make a half-robe to wear over another gown!
Here is another version of the drawstring dress with a straight skirt front. This was accomplished by using the skirt front piece from my Regency Gown Pattern (at top of page). You can easily mix and match pieces from these patterns to create even more gown options! |
Here is a period illustration of | Here are the underpinnings you need to give you the proper Regency foundation! This package includes patterns for a chemise, short stays, and two chemisettes. The chemise was modeled from original garments in several museum collections and features an adjustable drawstring neckline and gussets under the arms for a comfortable fit. The short stays lace in the front and were based upon extant stays in museum collections as well as period drawings of these transitional undergarments. The chemisettes were drawn from portraits of the time as well as Janet Arnold's excellent research in Patterns of Fashion I. Begin with the chemise next to the skin, then add your stays for the correct silhouette. To create a smooth line beneath your gowns, add a long petticoat over your stays, which you can easily make from the Regency Gown pattern above (omitting the sleeves). For daytime, put a chemisette over your undergarments, then don your gown. Voila'! A full Regency wardrobe!

This is my Spencer Jacket/Pelisse pattern. (Click on the cover image to see a larger version.) I created this pattern by pulling research together from several sources (along with customer requests!). I studied a Spencer jacket in the D.A.R. Museum collection and one at the Valentine. I also drew from Janet Arnold's wonderful Patterns of Fashion.

"I made up a spencer for my sister over the weekend (I'm almost finished with it--just need to hem the bottom and add the closure), and wanted to let you know how much I love that pattern! It's really simple and quick, and has so many possibilities! My sister is really pleased with it too, and it fits her very well! We're planning on making matching spencers or pelisses in the future. :)" ~ Casey B. in Virginia

"Just wanted to let you know a friend finished the Regency Dress for my daughter. She found your pattern easy to work with and finished the dress in two days. Thanks again for a wonderful and easy pattern." ~ Sincerely, Kathleen S.

"What a fun pattern to use! I've already made several play pinnies for my girls, and now I'm working on heirloom versions with lace insertion and tucks for Easter. This pattern works beautifully with any number of dresses they already have! Thanks!" ~ Carol C.
"Your pantaloons pattern is my new favorite. These are so easy to make. They go together so fast, and my girls love them. They climb trees in their muslin ones and wear the eyelet ones to church!" ~ Josie F.
